A SNIPPET FROM MY UNTITLED WIP:

The worst thing, apart from the obvious, was seeing my sister fade away before my eyes.

Looking at Abby was like looking into a mirror, identical in every way, from our long blonde tresses, right down to our emerald green eyes and our curvy silhouettes.

After her diagnosis, the weight dropped off her, her eyes lost their sparkle, and her hair slowly fell out leaving a shadow of who she once was. I’d look at Abby and I’d feel guilty.

Why wasn’t I sick? Why had Abby been given such a horrible sentence?

Why did she deserve to die and not me?

Every day following her death, I’d look in the mirror and see Abby. I’d see the Abby I knew before she got sick. The Abby that was full of life, stuck deep inside her sick exterior right up until the moment she died.

I'm currently writing the sequel to So Many Reasons Why, and also a stand alone book I'm yet to name.

I thought I'd post a teaser from my WIP, and a bit of an overview as to what its about :)

Synopsis

Nineteen year old Lily is still struggling with the death of her identical twin, Abby, a year earlier when she moves away from home for college.
Following Abby’s death, Lily spent time in a psych facility after she was still seeing, hearing and speaking to Abby as though she was still alive. Now, ready to begin college, Abby only shows up in her dreams.
A chance encounter with Dane Hansen changes Lily’s life. Lily’s friends warn her off becoming involved with Dane. He’s bad news, according to the rumors, anyway..
Now, he’s back, nearly a year after he disappeared off the face of the earth weeks into his freshman year at college. But Dane is far from the popular, womanizing, athlete he once was.
Dane has experienced loss himself, after his six year old sister was abducted and murdered nearly ten years ago. He understands Lily, and the more time he spends with her, the harder he falls. There is something he hasn’t told her though, something almost nobody knows, and it’s something that might stop Lily from feeling the same way.

“With Abby. At least I got to say goodbye. She was sick for a long time. At least I had the chance to tell her every day how much I loved her.”
My voice broke slightly. I could feel tears pricking my eyes. Suddenly I began to laugh. Dane looked at me, both confused and amused by my outburst.
“It just stuck me how horrified Abby would be if she knew this is how my first date was going.” I giggled. Dane laughed, his blue eyes lighting up.
“Yeah, I guess we’re both pretty morbid.” He made a face. “So, you’re first date, huh?” He smiled at me. I groaned. Why did I say that?
Truth be told, I suppose this was my first date. I’d had a boyfriend before, Dennis Collins. We were together for about two months before Abby got sick, when I was fourteen. Our month together involved lots of kissing, some uncomfortable fondling, and two extremely awkward nights of sex in his single bed when his parents were away. Abby had been so pissed that I’d lost my virginity before her, especially when she was the one with the steady boyfriend. She’d been so mad that the very next night she’d slept with Will, almost as if to spite me.
“It’s not my first date.” I retorted, blushing. “Just my first in a while.” Dane grinned, obviously loving the discomfort I was feeling.
“Okay, enough of the family talk. That’s way too depressing. What’s your favorite color?”
“Purple.” I answered. “You?”
“Green.” He replied, gazing deep into my green eyes. I giggled, blushing. “No, really. I’m not just saying that to be smooth.” He argued. I laughed. I should hope not.
If that was him being smooth, then he was drowning, fast.

BOOK REVIEW: AROUSE, BY NINA LANE

Synopsis:

"One day I'm going to touch you in a thousand different ways and show you how to touch me," he said.

And he did.

Struggling with a tormented past, undergraduate Olivia Winter once led a practical but isolated life. Then she met Professor Dean West, a brilliant scholar of medieval history who melted Liv's inhibitions and taught her the meaning of both love and erotic pleasure. But after three years of a blissful, lusty marriage, Liv and Dean now face a crisis that threatens everything they believe about each other...and sex might not be enough to save them.

My Review:

What a wonderfully engaging read!

There were so many things to love about this book. The story was great, the characters were so well developed. I loved and felt the connection between Dean and Liv, and the supporting characters in the story were engaging too.

I have nothing negative to say, and I look forward to the next book. Can't wait to see what happens!

DESIRE

Synopsis:

**This book contains heavy themes that make it suitable for a mature audience only**

Twenty-one year old Kaitlin’s life is turned upside down when her estranged mother disappears, leaving her to take care of Sam and Neri, the brother and sister she hasn’t seen in three years.

In the final year of her degree, caring for a hormonal fifteen year old and an inquisitive five year old wasn’t exactly part of her plan.

Things get even more complicated when the only job that will work with her new schedule happens to be as a receptionist in a high class adult establishment.

Devon Walkerson is the detective assigned to Katherine Delancy’s disappearance. The last thing he expected was to fall in love with Kaitlin. Devon has been hurt before, and is reluctant to put himself out there again.

Devon’s hot and cold behaviour is driving Kaitlin insane. As much as she can’t resist him, Kaitlin can’t keep letting him into her heart until he figures out what he wants.

As Kaitlin struggles to come to terms with unresolved feelings toward her mother, reconnecting with Neri and Sam, and falling in love with a man who may or may not feel the same way she’ll discover just how far she will go for her family.

SO MANY REASONS WHY

Synopsis:

** This book contains themes such as sexual abuse, drug use and language that make it suitable for a mature audience only.**

Twenty year old Emma hasn’t left the house since she was attacked as a child. Now, with the impending release of her attacker from prison, Emma knows it’s more important than ever for her to regain control of her life. From her unrelenting nightmares, to her strained relationships, to her crippling agoraphobia, Emma feels as though her life is spiralling out of control.

When her professor, Simon Anderson enters her life, Emma must deal with feelings she has never experienced before.

Though both she and Simon know their relationship is bordering on inappropriate, neither of them are able to ignore the intense chemistry that is quickly developing between them.

What was supposed to keep her mind off the attack has left her more confused than ever. When there are so many reasons why you shouldn’t be together, is simply being in love really enough?
